16:8 I constantly trust in the Lord;

because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended.

Mazmur 96:5

but the Lord made the sky.

For I consider your commands to be reliable.

Mazmur 119:94

119:94 I belong to you. Deliver me!

For I seek your precepts.

Mazmur 119:136

119:136 Tears stream down from my eyes,

because people do not keep your law.

Mazmur 119:164

119:164 Seven times a day I praise you

because of your just regulations.

Mazmur 119:173

119:173 May your hand help me,

for I choose to obey your precepts.

tn Heb “I set the Lord before me continually.” This may mean that the psalmist is aware of the Lord’s presence and sensitive to his moral guidance (see v. 7), or that he trusts in the Lord’s protection (see the following line).

tn The Hebrew term אֱלִילִים (’elilim, “worthless”) sounds like אֱלֹהִים (’elohim, “gods”). The sound play draws attention to the statement.

tn Heb “goodness of taste.” Here “taste” refers to moral and ethical discernment.

tn Heb “for I believe in your commands.”

tn Heb “[with] flowing streams my eyes go down.”

tn Heb “they”; even though somewhat generic, the referent (people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

tn The number “seven” is use rhetorically to suggest thoroughness.

tn The words “to obey” are not in the Hebrew text, but have been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarity.
